"The Love Song" is the second song on Marilyn Manson's 2001 studio album, Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death).
It is the first track on the 2004 album Lest We Forget: The Best Of.
The song was inspired by society's common obsession with fire arms, the harmful values of conservative Middle America, and what Manson believes are its three core preoccupations: Guns, God, and the Government. Metaphors are the father as the arm, the mother as the gun, and the children as the bullet.
